For parents of young children or those with busy, stressful jobs, holidays can often leave you feeling more stressed than before you left.

Travelling with kids is often stressful and when you are on holiday, not being able to switch off from work can be a real issue. Holidays are one of many perfect paradoxes, the more you try and relax, the less relaxed you end up feeling.

Many trips away with groups of friends or family can ultimately lead to over indulgence and having to return to reality with a stinking hangover and an aching gut!

What if there was another way to escape the stresses of modern life which actually ended up improving your physical and mental health?

A healthy alternative: build your own wellbeing weekend

A healthy alternative to heavy drinking, eating and partying is to build your own wellbeing or coaching weekend. Start with a partner, family member or close friend – perhaps someone you already enjoy training, yoga or other healthy pursuits with.

John and I started building these weekends for ourselves every three months to focus on building Reality Club and to coach each other, we were sick of the traditional pattern of going away with our mates and getting smashed. For many this is the norm, pressure to drink to excess and the habit of staying up late over indulging.

By trip number three to Harrogate in January 2023, they are already becoming a regular and much welcomed event in our calendars. Each trip provides us an opportunity to squeeze a bit more relaxation out and focus on getting the most out of our time away from family so we can recharge and be on top form when we see them again.

Paul & John fully branded up for the event!

Back To Reality Weekend

Here are some highlights from our last ‘Back to Reality weekend’.

We kicked off in -4 frost on Harrogate Stray, a great run which certainly got the weekend off to an energised start!

It was a brisk day for a run but the sun came out for our ten kilometer run round Harrogate’s famous Stray.

A beautiful day for a 10k on Harrogate Stray

After the run we stopped at Weetons (no affiliation) to enjoy a healthy breakfast of smoked salmon, eggs and sourdough.

A lovely breakfast at Weetons

Time to check-in to our Airbnb and get down to some coaching as well as planning more content to help our Reality Club community.
